Hi I’m Kimberly

“ Kim “

The Founder and CEO of Moreland Resouce Consulting, LLC., the wife of Michael Moreland Sr., and mother of four talented and accomplished young adults Katie, Mike, Kristen, and Karina. I have a passion for educating others and preserving historic places significant to African African history in Oregon.  Much of my work has been actively serving on several cultural and heritage boards that activate my advocacy for African American historic preservation and history.  A few of the organizations I’ve been proudly involved in over the years that you may know of are:

  • Oregon Black Pioneers, Vice-President and Board Development Co-Chair

  • Bosco-Milligan Foundation: Architectural Heritage Center, Board-Development Co-Chair

  • Oregon Heritage Commission, Governor Appointee

  • Portland Historic Landmark Commission, New Member.

Why This Work?

Growing up in an African American working-class community located on the east side of Cleveland, Ohio, Kimberly observed her parents, Elmer and Katherine Stowers be actively involved in the neighborhood street association. They organized block parties and worked collaboratively with the City of Cleveland to develop a nearby public park equipped with a tennis court, swimming pool, and play area.  As a child, she learned early about the importance of caring for others and being a community builder.   Moreland Resource is designed with that principle in mind. Her professional and non-profit experiences have afforded her the opportunity to meet community builders from all walks of life. Inspired by their commitment to build better and stronger communities, her passion is to help community builders, like her parents, connect to relevant, productive resources that will help them fulfill their mission and purpose.
